Team Note: The Warriors can consider signing Simmons to strengthen the center position, and Lopez & Capela can also choose

NBC Sports Bay Area reporter Monte Poole wrote an article saying that the Warriors will actively look for a center in the offseason, and an unexpected name surfaced - Ben Simmons. When the free agent market opens in late June, Simmons may be one of the options the Warriors consider.

Poole wrote: "He was probably one of the worst finishers in the league, which is really bad, but listen to me, he has a 6-foot-10-inch (2.08 meters) height and 240 pounds (109 kg) weight, still retains some of the once amazing athleticism and is still a strong and defensive defender."

"He entered the NBA as a point guard but has now transformed into center and played for the Clippers last season as Zubac's substitute. If Simmons was eager for a redemption season, he might be a cost-effective option," Poole wrote.

Simmons, 28, played for the Nets and the Clippers in the 2024-25 season. He averaged 22 minutes per game and contributed 5.0 points, 5.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds, shooting 52% from the field. He was a point guard when he entered the league in 2016, but has recently gradually transformed into a center role.

In addition to Simmons, Poole also mentioned that Capela and Lopez are also suitable free agent choices.

As for the trading target, Poole mentioned Gafford of the Dallas Mavericks. Gafford contributed 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game, shooting as high as 70.2% from the field. Gafford just agreed to a three-year, $60 million contract extension over the weekend.
