Deschamps leads the French coaching staff to pay tribute to Mandanda: Thank you for everything you do, you are the real leader

40-year-old former French national goalkeeper Mandanda announced his retirement. French national team coach Deschamps, assistant coach Stefan and goalkeeper coach Raviot paid tribute to him and said goodbye.

Deschamps said: "I want to thank you for everything you did for the team and for me. As the captain of Marseille, I believe you won some trophys, even though that was a long time ago. Then there were those wonderful years with the French national team. Although we were not always happy times, sometimes I had to say something unpleasant to you, but it was not for you, you know. You have always been a very positive person, a real leader in terms of human character."

French national team assistant Stefan said: "I certainly remember that we had experienced it in Marseille. Many wonderful times, I am very happy to be with you during this time, first in Marseille and then in the French national team. Sacrifice to your great career."

goalkeeper coach Raviot said: "You have decided to end your brilliant, beautiful and outstanding career. You will start writing a new chapter from now on, and I wish it will be the best chapter. I want to tell you how happy it is to spend those wonderful times with you in your beloved French national team. I am proud of you being an excellent goalkeeper and a person with good values!"
