Italian media: Matrazi s brother suffers from amyotrophic cervical disease, and his wife launches a fundraising campaign

According to Italian media SportMediaset, Matrazi's brother Matteo Matrazi suffers from amyotrophic cervix (ALS). The announcement was made by his wife Mora, who launched a fundraising campaign on the GoFundMe platform to help Matteo Matrazi pay for very expensive treatments.

wife Mora wrote on social media: "I am Mora, the wife of Matteo, the father of two outstanding boys (16 and 19). Mateo was 49 years old and was diagnosed with a rare ALS variant in September 2024." Many people in the football world have taken action to support Matteo Matrazi and have raised tens of thousands of euros.

Mora said: "Mateo Matrazi was in a wheelchair and quickly lost the function of her legs. To this day, even her arms can no longer be used, and only her hands can move slightly. Unfortunately, the disease progresses very rapidly and has recently invaded the respiratory system."

Mateo Matrazi's family did not give up: Despite the extremely difficult challenge, there is only one goal now: to tailor an ASO (antisense oligonucleotide) therapy for Mateo's variant. So there is still hope, and the preliminary action has begun: "We have contacted Columbia University in New York, USA and Dr. Schneider, the pioneer of this therapy, but it will cost $1.5 million to create an ASO for Matteo Matrazi and all people with the same mutation, which is obviously something we don't have."

From this, they decided to launch a fundraising campaign: "Only with your help, we have the hope of raising this money, perhaps not only saving Matteo Matrazi's life, but also saving all the lives of people in the same situation as him. Even the smallest amount is important, because the trickle can become a sea. Thanks to all those who are willing to support us in fighting for life."

The football community is actively responding: to help Matteo Matrazi, tens of thousands of euros have been raised.
