Xiao Hua: NBA bosses will keep a wait-and-see attitude towards the Clippers before the league completes the investigation

NBA President Xiao Hua met with the media after the NBA board meeting and talked about the investigation into the Clippers' suspected evasion of the salary cap.

Xiao Hua said that the league will bear the burden of proof in an investigation of the Clippers and boss Steve Ballmer. The core of the controversy is whether the $28 million "name" job Leonard received from the now-banked Aspiration company constitutes a means to evade the salary cap.

Xiao Hua said: "If we are going to punish a team, a boss, a player or any member of the league, then the burden of proof is on the league's side. I think that any procedure involving basic fairness should fall on the party that essentially makes the allegation."

According to previous reports, the NBA has hired the law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York to investigate the case. Sources revealed that the investigation will be "full and deep", but there is no clear deadline for completion.

Xiao Hua added that NBA team owners will remain on the wait-and-see attitude before the league office completes the investigation.

"This is the meaning of establishing a president. On the one hand, of course, I work together for 30 bosses, but at the same time I also have an independent obligation to maintain the alliance brand and integrity." Xiao Hua said.
