The Rome Club's plan to build a new stadium in "City of Eternity" has been brewing for nearly twenty years, and has inspected multiple different locations during this period. The Pitrata area is currently the most progressive site selection, but that doesn't mean it is not difficult. The Serie A club recently won a legal lawsuit that successfully cleared a scrap car yard that has been illegally present in the area for more than 20 years.

Now, they are facing court lawsuits again. The Lazio Regional Administrative Court is expected to make a ruling today local time to decide whether to allow the club to remove 26 trees in order to conduct necessary archaeological exploration in the area. Some local organizations are prosecuting to stop the removal of trees, which they argue are natural habitats for a specific bat species. Attorneys for the groups threaten to file a claim lawsuit if the Rome club and local council insist on removing the trees.

As part of the new stadium project, 819 new trees are planned to be planted to create an ecologically sustainable stadium surrounded by park green spaces.
