The nephew raped at home! Harden and his security team are accused of negligence in sexual assault

According to USA Today, Clippers guard James Harden is accused of negligence, and the complaint also includes sexual assault allegations against Harden's nephew Blackburn. The following is all content.

Clippers guard James Harden was charged for negligence due to his security team's failure to properly handle a sexual assault at the 2024 New Year party. According to plaintiff Marisa Watley, she was sexually assaulted by her nephew Justice Armani Blackburn while attending a New Year party at Harden's mansion in Houston.

litigation documents show Watley attended a party with two friends, who claimed she was sexually assaulted by Blackburn while unconscious. Afterwards, her friends were kicked out of the mansion by Harden's security officers, but Watley herself was still inside. Watley's friend then contacted her sister, who in turn contacted Harden's sister (Blackburn's mother). The lawsuit mentioned that Harden's sister provided a photo of Watley to security personnel, but the security personnel said the woman in the house was not Watley, although the complaint insisted that Watley was indeed in the mansion at that time.

Watley accused Harden's security team of failure to respond to external help in a timely manner, resulting in the sexual assault incident. She believes Harden and his security team are jointly and severally responsible for the matter and demands a jury trial, financial compensation and punitive damages.

The 35-year-old Harden has been selected into the NBA All-Star 11 times and the NBA All-Series 6 times. He has just completed his second season with the Clippers, averaging 22.8 points, 8.7 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.

"Since I reported Blackburn's rape to the police on New Year's day, I've been confused by the behavior of Harden's security team that day - it was very painful to think that it could have been stopped. I hope this lawsuit will prompt security personnel to act more responsibly when women are at risk," Watley said in a statement.

Watley's lawyers Michael J Wilming, John S-Crane, Jay Elwanger and Kaylene Bates said in a statement: "Ms. Watley showed great courage and strength in revealing what Blackburn and Harden did to her. She called the police immediately when the rape occurred and we will put Blackburn and Harden under legal sanctions through the civil justice system."
